Sydney is cool. Only been here 2 days, but I like it. I can see how people get sucked in here & never leave.
We went down to the Opera house on the first day & took some pictures, of the Harbour Bridge too. Quite impressive.
Yesterday, we went on a boat tour around the harbour, pretty good.
I met my cousin Colette & her boyfriend Rob last night for a few drinks. She's been living here for
3 years. We had great craic, me & Emmet got a little drunk. So much so that after saying goodbye to them at the end of
the night, & heading for our hostel, we mistakenly walked 200 yards past it & into the heart of Kings Cross (Sydneys
famous sleazy area). I know ye wont believe me, but this was genuinly an accident.
Then we got coaxed into a strip bar.
This was interesting for about 5 minutes, but anyone who's been to one will know how unerotic & expensive they
are. Didnt get any photos unfortunately.

The next night we met up with my friend Cormac (from Tramore, living here last 2 years, worked with him in Intel). Cormac
took us a favourite restaurant/bar of his (where they actually serve pints) & we got kangeroo pizza. Then a gang
of us went to an Irish bar where there was this beautiful Asian girl behind the bar.
(Note: since our trip to Asia, I've really developed a thing for Asian girls. Really).
So, she was standing about 5 feet away, & as usual I start off talking about her in Irish to Emmet.
Mentioned her good looks & her...eh... assets. She kinda smiled to herself & kept working away. About 2 mins
later she talks to her workmate.... in a f*cking Dublin accent! I was well embarrassed.
We did all the touristy things here in Sydney. Visited Hyde Park, got photos of Harbour Bridge, visited the Aquarium
etc. We didnt do the Harbour Bridge walk as it costs $175 & they won't let you bring a camera. The camera part made
me lose interest cos I've a head like a sieve, so after a month I'd have forgotten what it was like.
We took a tour out to the Blue Mountains one day. Sparky was too hung over to go, so stayed behind. Me & Emmet were
waiting for a our pickup outside some hotel that morning, when PartyBoy walked past!! (Jackass fans will appreciate this).
Those few of you who've seen my home videos will know how much I love Jackass. By the time we gathered ourselves & grabbed
cameras, he'd gone into the hotel & upto his room, dammit.
Anyway, the Blue mountains were cool. (So called due to the blue haze in the valley created as Eucalyptus evaporates
from the trees below). Lots of scenery, climbing & walking. We met 2 Malaysian girls on the tour & the gang of
us spent the day having a laugh. On our journey home, the feckin minibus got a flat tyre on the highway. After trying
for 20 mins to change the tyre in vain (20 stone manbeast of driver jumping on wrench to loosen nuts to no avail), we jumped
on another bus to a harbour, then got a boat back to the city centre. The 2 Malaysian girls insisted they make us
dinner in their hostel, which they did. They were nice.
Saw a few Matrix (part 1) locations here in Sydney. The fountain shown below is where
the lady with the red dress was.
So after 5 days or so, we got our flight to Melbourne. Impressed with Sydney... it varies from nice parks to
skyscapers, business districts where everyone wears suits to Kings Cross where there are prostitutes, weirdos &
people injecting themselves on the sidewalk. Whatever you're into, it's in Sydney.
