Arrived in Phuket island on Tuesday. Staying in Patong beach. Its nice here, but busier than Koh Samui. A lot more people,
traffic & shops. The best thing about Phuket is the accessibility it provides to trips & tours in the area.
Yesterday was the best day ever. Went on a tour to Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Ley & Khai Island.
A speedboat had about 15 of us in it, & took us to all these different bays & islands.
Started at Maya Bay (where they filmed The Beach), on Phi Phi Ley island, this was beautiful. Went swimming
there for a while. Then we snorkelled in the crystal clear waters of Loh Samah bay, amongst all these tropical fish. Then
we swam in Phi Leh cove. Like everywhere else here, the water was just screaming to be jumped into & swam in, it was so
clear. Throwing chunks of pineapple into the water resulted in a feeding frenzy of tropical fish. Saw some Viking
cave then. Next we went to the other island, Phi Phi Don. We couldnt feed the monkeys of Monkey Beach, as the little blighters
feck off at high tide. Next we did some more snorkelled at the Hin Clang (Great Coral Reef). Marks highlight of this was when
he saw a 'Finding Nemo' clown fish. Then we got dropped at Khai Nok island, which is practically a big beach with a few trees
in the middle of the ocean. Did some more snorkeling & swimming here.
Also got sunburnt. Best day ever though.
We spend a few nights wandering aroung Phuket at night-time - quite lively. Plenty of restaurants, pubs (some nice outdoor
ones) & stalls. It is really nice here, but I'd recommend Koh Samui over Phuket, a lot of other people here said the same.
We leave Phuket tonight to go to Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia (20 hr journey). Spending 4 nights there then on to Singapore
for Paddys day, before flying to Australia.
